Our
Story

After teaching in the Early Years classroom for 10 years it became increasingly obvious that our youngest students were under immense pressure to learn more, and faster. The result? Students who were frustrated, lacking confidence, and motivation. Little minds lacking curiosity, problem-solving skills and imagination. And my day to day as their homeroom teacher? Exhausting and uninspiring. The bottom line - the kids (and their teacher) were not ok! I decided I couldn't be a part of that environment any more. I wanted to return to being the teacher that sparks joy, wonder, and adventure for children, because that's what they need and deserve.

So, when I saw the way children's needs were not being met, I left the school where I taught and began Curious Kids. The idea was born out of a need for a learning space where children would feel confident in themselves, excited about learning and connected positively with the world around them. Learning through nature was the obvious answer! I acquired certification as a Forest Teacher and spent several weeks with the Boston Outdoor Preschool Network, observing the daily logistics of a thriving, 100% outdoors preschool program. I felt so inspired to see that nearly a hundred families were choosing a nature-based education in place of a traditional classroom. The need was real and it was time to bring the movement to Mexico City.
